Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation was created in 1989, in accordance with the International Business Companies Ordinance of 1984, and registered in the British Virgin Islands (SPC BVI) and has been continuously growing.
SPC BVI arranges the purchase, sale and chartering of Liquids (Sahara Blend Crude, Condensate, etc.), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). These operations are carried out by the two (02) branches in London and Algiers. The branch of Algiers with the Board of Directors contains the senior officers of the company who determine policy and with whom responsibility for the business rests.

SPC BVI is the owner of following companies (five LPG Vessels and one VLCC): Sonatrach Gas Carrier Corporation (SGCC/Reggane), Sonatrach Petroleum Overseas Transportation Corporation (SPOTC/Djanet), Alrar Transportatin Corporation (ALTC), Rhourd Enouss Transporation Corporation (RNTC), Hassi Messaoud II (HMTC) and New Ocean Shipping Venture Ltd (NOSVL/Mesdar).
SPC BVI is a 100% owned subsidiary of Sonatrach International Holding Corporation (SIHC) which is itself owned by the Sonatrach.
