Inauguration of Rhourd Enouss

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, proceeded on Wednesday 8th December 2004, in Koba, Japan to the official inauguration of the LPG carrier "Rhourd Enouss" built for Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation, by Kawasaki Shipbuilding Co, Japan.

With a capacity of 59 000m³ of refrigerated LPG and complying with all the norms established by the new regulations and international maritime institutions in terms of safety and protection of the environment, the “Rhourd Enouss” is considered to be a carrier of the modern generation.

By the end of February 2005, Sonatrach will see its fleet increased to 7 Carriers, through Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation, its trading and shipping subsidiary. The "Hassi Messaoud II",  being the latest currently being assembled.

With this new acquisition by the Sonatrach Group, Algeria will reinforce its position as a world leader of the LPG Market.
